Cycle Literacy Learning Path Preview

Your body has been speaking all along.

Understand your cycle well enough to recognize your patterns, know what deserves attention, and talk about it clearly with your clinician.

A physician-designed education in what your menstrual cycle is actually communicating and how to understand it with confidence.

The Four Phases

Menstrual
Reset and renewal. The next cycle’s preparation begins immediately.

Follicular
Estrogen rises. The follicular phase is the most variable in length, and some women notice changes in energy or focus during this time.

Ovulation
The cycle’s central event and pivot point. Everything turns here.

Luteal
Progesterone rises after ovulation. This phase is usually more consistent in length and is often where recurring premenstrual patterns become easiest to recognize.

Is This the Right Path for You?

Cycle Literacy may be right for you if you want to:
understand what actually happens across your cycle;
know why your cycle length changes;
recognize ovulation and other meaningful patterns;
understand what is normal versus worth discussing;
arrive at appointments better prepared.

If your main concern is active perimenopausal symptoms, start with the Perimenopause Learning Path →

What cycle literacy means

More than periods. A window into whole health.

Your cycle is influenced by coordinated hormonal signaling between the brain and ovaries, and its patterns can also be affected by broader health factors such as thyroid function, energy availability, stress, sleep, and illness.

Most women were given averages without context and statistics without explanation. When cycle patterns become legible, variability becomes information rather than dysfunction. Symptoms become signals. Your relationship with your own body, and with your care team, becomes fundamentally different.

What you'll learn

The complete biological picture — finally explained clearly.

The four-phase sequence

Explain what is happening in each phase and why cycle length can change from month to month.

Understand why ovulation matters beyond fertility and signs can suggest that it occurred.

Why ovulation is the cycle’s most clinically significant event, how to recognize it, and what its absence or irregularity communicates about health.

Distinguish common variation from patterns worth bringing to a clinician.

The difference between normal variation and patterns worth evaluating so you can stop wondering whether something is wrong and start knowing.

Understand how the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, and ovaries coordinate the cycle.

How the hypothalamus, pituitary, and ovaries communicate and why understanding this conversation changes how you interpret your own experience.

Track useful patterns—not just dates—without turning your cycle into a daily performance.

How to track your cycle in a way that generates useful information over time not just dates, but patterns that speak.

Turn what you observe into a concise, useful conversation with your clinician.

How to translate what you observe into language your clinician can hear and act on, because pattern data changes what’s possible in a 15-minute appointment.

What you should be able to do when you finish.

By the end of Cycle Literacy, you should be able to:

  • explain the four phases of the menstrual cycle;
  • understand why ovulation timing affects total cycle length;
  • distinguish common cycle variation from patterns worth discussing;
  • recognize the major observable signs associated with hormonal change;
  • describe your own baseline cycle pattern;
  • communicate a meaningful change clearly to your clinician.

What's included

The complete Cycle Literacy Learning Path

Physician-Authored Ebook

Build the complete biological framework. From the brain-ovary dialogue through the clinical significance of each phase. Written to be read slowly and returned to.

Self-Guided Course

Reinforce the concepts in sequence and apply them to your own experience. Each module deepens and personalizes what the ebook introduces. Reflection practices and guided observation build the skill of body literacy over time, not in a single sitting.

Companion Workbook

Turn knowledge into observation and pattern recognition. Where it becomes personal. Reflection prompts for each phase, a cycle observation log, and a symptom summary designed to be completed before clinical appointments.

MyCare Conversation Guide

Translate what you notice into a useful clinical conversation. A conversation tool designed to be printed and brought to your next appointment so your observations arrive in a form your clinician can use.

“The female body is ordered, meaningful, and worthy of careful attention. What I saw, over and over, were not bodies that were mysterious or difficult, it was women who had never been given the framework to understand what their bodies were already telling them.”

Most women leave appointments with the same questions they walked in with.

Understanding your body changes the conversation. A clinic appointment is short. Your experience isn’t.

The MyCare Conversation Guide for your phase helps you organize what you have noticed, identify the questions you want answered, and communicate more clearly with your healthcare professional.  It’s not a script. It’s a thinking tool that makes the conversation possible.
